What Power to Choose provides
Power to Choose is the Public Utility Commission of Texas website for shopping electricity offers in competitive areas. It provides plan listings, filters, complaint information, and links to documents such as the Electricity Facts Label.
A practical way to search
- Enter the service-address ZIP code. Available offers depend on the delivery area.
- Use the filters. Narrow by contract length, rate type, prepaid status, time-of-use pricing, renewable content, provider, and other preferences.
- Estimate your usage. Review past bills because usage changes across hot and mild months.
- Open the EFL. Confirm the energy charge, delivery treatment, base fees, bill credits, contract term, and cancellation fee.
- Compare more than one usage level. The 500-, 1,000-, and 2,000-kWh examples are standardized reference points, not a prediction of your bill.
Where a personal calculation helps
Power to Choose supplies the marketplace and official plan information. A household-specific comparison adds a different layer: it applies each supported plan formula to the customer’s actual usage month by month. That can reveal how credits, free-night windows, seasonal usage, and contract dates affect estimated cost.
Keep control of the decision
Review the current EFL and Terms of Service before enrolling. Power Made Clear provides an independent estimated-cost comparison; it does not enroll customers or accept commissions from electricity providers.
Power Made Clear is an independent Texas electricity broker. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Power to Choose or the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
