CENTERPOINT DELIVERY RATES

Why an older bill may need an adjustment.

CenterPoint delivery rates can change. If your bill used an older rate, Power Made Clear keeps your electricity use and provider charges the same, then updates only the CenterPoint delivery charge to today’s rate. That lets every current plan use the same delivery rate for a fair comparison.

If CenterPoint rates rise, the estimate reflects the increase. If they fall, it reflects the decrease. The amount you actually paid never changes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How do I know if I am overpaying for electricity?

Compare the current billing period's electricity charges and kWh with current market examples at similar usage. A higher bill can come from more usage, a missed credit, an expired contract, or a higher plan price. One month is a useful clue, while a full year gives a stronger seasonal comparison.

What is a good CenterPoint-area electricity price right now?

There is no single good price for every home. At October 1, 2026 at 11:00 PM CT, the typical estimated all-in bill among current monthly-priceable CenterPoint-area plans was $115.84 at 1,000 kWh, with a common middle-half range of $105.68 to $127.30. This is a live market benchmark, not a prediction for your home.

Why is the plan with the lowest advertised rate not always the lowest-cost plan?

Advertised average prices use standard usage examples such as 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh. Your estimated cost changes with your actual usage, CenterPoint delivery charges, recurring fees, bill credits, time-of-use rules, and plan requirements. A plan can look inexpensive at one example and cost more during other months.

Can I avoid CenterPoint delivery charges by switching providers?

No. CenterPoint's regulated delivery charges generally remain part of the bill throughout its service territory when you switch retail providers. CenterPoint's current verified residential delivery charge is $4.90 per month plus 6.5333 cents per kWh.

Are bill-credit or free-night plans actually cheaper?

Sometimes, but not automatically. Bill-credit plans can become expensive when usage misses a threshold, and free-night plans can charge more during paid hours. They need to be tested across your actual monthly usage and, for time-of-use plans, when you use electricity.

How can I find the lowest estimated-cost plan for my home?

Apply each plan's verified pricing rules and current CenterPoint charges to your actual monthly and time-of-day usage over the same future months. The Power Made Clear report performs that comparison using your Smart Meter Texas history rather than one standard usage example.

Why does the Power Made Clear report cost $10 when some comparison sites are free?

Some free comparison services may be compensated by providers or when customers enroll. Power Made Clear does not accept provider commissions. The $10 one-time price pays for a private usage-based comparison; there is no subscription, and Power Made Clear never enrolls you in a plan.

Should I choose a short-term or long-term electricity plan?

A short plan may have a lower current estimated cost but requires shopping again sooner and could end during expensive summer months. A longer plan covers more seasons but may cost more. Compare estimated costs within each term group and consider when the contract ends.
